Kevin Griffiths will be recording a CD with works by Swiss composers Hans Huber and Paul Juon

In May 2016, Kevin Griffiths and the Violinist Maria Solozobova will record pieces by Swiss composers. Hans Huber’s 2nd Violin concerto, which they already recorded last season and gave the first performance in the Tonhalle Zurich, will stand alongside his overture “Simplicius” and a Violin concerto by Paul Juon. Both concertos will be world premier recordings.

In January 2016 Kevin Griffiths will be recording an “Alla Turca” CD with works by Mozart, Haydn and Romberg for the label CPO

Kevin Griffiths, the violinist Julia Schröder and the Collegium Musicum Basel will record Mozart’s Violin concerto no. 5 in A-major KV 219, often referred to by the nickname “Turkish”, Joseph Haydn’s “L’incontro improvviso”, an example of the then Austrian fascination with Turkish motives, and Andreas Romberg’s Sinfonia alla turca Nr. 4 op. 51, who was one of Mozart’s contemporaries. The German CD-label CPO for which Kevin Griffiths has already recorded before will release it.

Fazil Say und Kevin Griffiths werden Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue und Mozart’s Klavierkonzert KV467 aufführen

In the Extrakonzert of the Collegium Musicum Basel on March 10th 2016, Fazil Say and Kevin Griffiths will perform Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Mozart’s Piano concerto no. 21, KV467 in the Stadtcasino Basel. The “Symphonic Dances” from Bernstein’s Westside Story and Rossini’s “L’italiana in Algeri” overture will complete the program.

Kevin Griffiths and the Orchestra della svizzera italiana have recorded music to the documentary “The Sense of Beauty” by Valerio Jalongo, which aims to examine the most advanced research being carried out at CERN from a special perspective, that of the mystery of beauty, exploring the deep connections between Art, contemporary Science and the mysterious energy that could explain both the entire universe and the sub-atomic structure of matter.
